Folks, I think we have a winner!

We visited 2 Victorian Mansions in Joliet today needless to say, 1 completely outshined the other.  However, I may have been biased at that point because I had just finished touring my number 1 venue lol.  The 2nd venue we toured was hmm how should I say, uhm Quaint? It was a very pretty Victorian House,  but that was the problem! It was setup like a house, not like a Wedding Venue, an old smelling house at that.  At first glance from the parking lot across the street it was GINORMOUS.  However my dear readers, unlike the TARDIS, it was terribly bigger on the outside than the inside O_o Not to mention in order to have it there all of our guests would have to be seated in separate room AND separate floors!  Walking on over to the back of the mansion was the bar completely decked out as a "Man Cave" is what the girl described it as, I believe a more fitting description would be a MURDER ROOM.  Animal heads galore donned the walls along with rifles and other such horrendous weapons and traps.  At that point I was ready to leave.

Daydreaming back onto venue #1,my breath was taken aback...It was soo gorgeous I fell in love as we walked through the archway.  It has everything we need and more, I literally did not ever want to leave.  Downside? Of course there's a downside, there's always a downside right? It's a bit out of our budget range which means of course either we keep on trucking orrrrrr we give ourselves a little more time to save up so we can have our "dream" wedding.  We will keep on touring and going down the list but realistically I will totally be comparing each venue to my #1 :/

It takes time..

So we went to tour a possible Wedding Venue near Evanston yesterday afternoon.  It was a beautiful neighborhood and the garden for the outdoor Ceremony was gorgeous, however I was less then thrilled with the indoor reception room.  The people who worked there were very pleasant and willing to work with our concerns however unfortunately this place is not #1 on my list.  The room was very small and dull, not to mention the rest of the building had the airs of a VFW.  **sigh** On to the next one.....

What we know FOR SURE..

So we have decided to have a Victorian Themed Wedding, which if you know us, is perfectly fitting ;)  What this means for YOU:

Well for the Bridal Party this means fully decked out Victorian Wear:
Groomsmen: LONG COATTAILS, POCKET WATCHES, TOP HATS, VESTS, HIGH WASTED PANTS, AND FOR THE GROOM A WALKING STICK.
As far as the women are concerned, their dresses will be complimenting whatever dress I decide on.  You can be sure however that this will include lace and a corset style.

Our wonderful family and friends in attendance will be REQUIRED to come in formal wear, if you come in Victorian Formal Wear however you will definitely be earning brownie points with us and will help us celebrate such a beautiful era in our history, besides what woman doesn't want to get all extra fancy ;) In case you are not familiar with Victorian Dress basically just think
LACE, CORSETS, BUSTLES, PETTICOATS..the more elaborate the ruffles the better!

We will also be having a Romantic Masquerade Ball directly proceeding dinner.  Ushers will be on hand to pass out to each and everyone of you a specially hand decorated mask from us as a gift. <3

We will start with a beautifully choreographed first dance, with a synchronized dance by the bridal party as well.  We encourage you all to join in the fun! Do not be discouraged if you have no idea how to ballroom dance, neither do we! Put on your mask grab a partner and have fun! For those who are scowling at the computer as they read this, don't worry it's only for like an hour and you will have that time to head to the bar and drink away your non-dancing shame :P
